The other day, my trusty Canon point-and-shoot camera decided to hit the crapper. For no apparent reason, other than to frustrate its owner. Some lens error, lens won't open, makes an awful sound trying to. We don't have a camera repair shop in town (at least that I'm aware of), and I took it to Best Buy and asked a few other people their thoughts on fixing it. Sounds like it might not be worth it versus the cost of the camera.
And with a growing little girl who is ever changing, ever moving and ever full of photo opps, I need to get a new camera, stat. Only hold up is that I'm thinking of taking the plunge to get a digital SLR. We've talked about doing this down the road at some point, and now I think this might be the right time rather than getting another point-and-shoot. Looking forward to better photo quality and faster shooting capabilities, and hoping to get better pictures of Ashlynn, our fam and farming (nerdy, but I love taking pictures on the farm, especially during harvest).
I'm leaning towards one of the Canon Rebel models, something entry level. Any feedback? Anyone have a favorite brand/model?

The Anderson's
What happens when two great friends/family members of ours get married? We have one busy, fun, beautiful, amazing weekend! On July 23rd Jeremy's cousin Heather got married to Luke, and we were both honored to be a part of their special day. These two are not only family but also a big part of our lives as friends and Ashlynn's godparents.
It was a beautiful day, the bride was stunning, the ceremony was perfect and the celebration was a blast. We're blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful family and friends!

Whole Lot of Cloeters
Last weekend we went up to northern Wisconsin near Spooner for our Cloeter family reunion. Let me preface this with the fact that growing up, we used to have Cloeter reunions every couple years. My dad has 3 brothers, 3 sisters and they all have 2 or 3 kids. So there are a lot of Cloeter grandkids, all around the same age, all boys except for me and my 2 girl cousins (insert image of children of the 80s with bowl cuts, perms and high top tennis shoes). The reunions in the good 'ol days would vary in location from Minnesota to Michigan to Colorado. And we'd have talent shows, organized activities and family meals.
As the years have passed, my dad and his brothers and sisters still get together each summer since they live all throughout the states. This time around, there was more of an effort to get some of the cousins together if they could make the trip. There were a few of us there at different points throughout the weekend, and many of us with our own kids now. We had a blast catching up and enjoying the northwoods together. Now if only we had a full week instead of a weekend...and if only we had put on a talent show.

7 Months
Ashlynn is 7 months old today and she got an unexpected surprise for turning this fine age. No, not a cake or a new outfit or a pony. Instead she got her first ear infection today. Poor little girl had been running a low-grade fever and had a runny nose for about a week now. We kind of figured she was working on a tooth. Seems to be about that age, everyone around us was convinced that's what it was, and she's been drooling and chewing on everything in sight. I had once thought she had an ear infection a few months ago, took her into urgent care and it was nothing. Go figure, now she gets one and I had no clue. No signs of tugging on her ear and I just had the teething thought in my head. But we got her some meds and she should be good to go.
At 7 months, here's what our little bugaboo has been up to:
- Sits up on her own no problem. Don't need to be behind her or load up the pillows around her. Aaaand if she falls, it'll only toughen her up ha.
- Gets on all fours in a table top position and rocks back and forth. No crawling, but I feel like that might be next. The way she gets around these days is hiking up on all fours, rocking, flattening to stomach in a scooting movement and inches her way around. Looks like a lot of work, but whatev. Still has rolling for a mode of transportation.
- Full on with fruits and veggies and seems to thoroughly enjoy them all. She eats cereal and veggies at lunch at daycare, and we give her veggies in the evening. Still doing good on breastmilk, too.
- Recently discovered her bottom lip. Sucks on it and even smiles with it sucked in. She looks mischievous when she does it...probably many of those types of faces to come.
- Slowly but surely getting more hair. But it's coming in very blonde so still kind of hard to see, especially in pictures. Can we get this girl some Rogaine for Women?!
- Has now had a few swimming pool and lake dates and is mesmerized by the water.
- Added another "official" nickname to her list. For some reason Jer has always called her Ducky. I think it's from a couple of her newborn outfits that were full of ducks and ever since has called her that. Ducky it is.

Long Time...
No post. Looking at my archives, I only had 2 posts for July. Which I guess makes sense considering we either had a bach party, wedding or family reunion all filled into each weekend of July. And then I felt like each week was spent catching up on laundry, work and getting ready for the next weekend's events.
Hoping for a little breather now. Until I catch up on all the fun festivities on the blog, here's a little picture of our destroyer of a daughter...tearing up everything in sight during dinner at Salut.
