20 Weeks

Half way to meeting Baby Bacon!

20 Weeks
Is it just me or is my picture quality diminishing...streaks on the mirror, half the border showing, bouncy seat coming out of my rear...pull it together, Wolff!

A few recent happenings:
- Haven't done this since last time I was prego, but baby is the size of a banana. I sure hope that means length, not weight. Bananas seem light, don't they?
- Still feeling some movement...nothing major or real regular, but it's there.
- Wore a swimsuit out at my friend Christy's parents' lake home. Not exactly comfortable, but there were four of us women and all kids so it was safe. Might be time to invest in a maternity suit after seeing how much Ashlynn loved being in the water - have a feeling we'll be making frequent pool and lake stops this summer.
- Just when I thought everyone I worked with knew I was pregnant, think again (keep in mind I work with about 80 % males, many of who are like distant brothers to me and who, based on my first pregnancy, are intrigued by a growing belly). Tom asked me just the other day, "Anne, is there someting you need to tell me?" Yes, Tom...I ate 3 Chipotle burritos for lunch.

RF Girls

I've talked about my college roomies a few times - when we were all prego together, and when our girls had a play date this past fall. Christi, Darcy and I had another play date with our girls (and Caleb!) on Mother's Day weekend at Darcy's home in Rosemount. It was a great day catching up with friends and having our little girls play together (Natalie - Oct 2010, Payton - Dec 2010, Ashlynn - Jan 2011).

Hoping to do more of these this summer - the girls had a blast together and I can't complain about hanging out with my girlfriends!

One of many attempts for a group shot. Ashlynn was having fun, I promise.

Probably the best we'll get :)

19 Weeks

A few notables:

- Running here and there. By no means am I back in running shape from my hiatus during the first tri, but have been logging a few running stroller miles and did a 5K on Saturday (pretty slow, but it was so hot and windy!).

- Still not much of an appetite at dinner time, and often times find myself snacking rather than eating a good meal. Shame on me.

- Felt the first kicks! It happened this past Friday while laying in bed before I fell asleep. Just light movement, but it was definitely baby movement. Have felt it a couple times since, and am reminded why I love it so much!

The Birthday Boy

Happy birthday, Jeremy! So blessed to have this man as my hubby, best friend and father to our children. I'm so proud of how hard he works at everything, from the farm to our family and everything in between. Ashlynn, Baby Bacon and I love you so much!

(Jeremy on his birthday in 2008, right before we left on a plane to California...not quite the same plans this year :) And of course, his fave...German Chocolate Cake!)

Oh Baby

Time to update on our little Baby #2...or Baby Bacon as my niece and nephew now call it (that, or Lil Foot they said). Though I like Baby Bacon, since we are hog farmers, so I'm going with it. We had an appointment at 16 weeks and everything is looking/sounding great! Here are a few tidbits on this babe:

- Heartrate 157 bpm
- Extremely active and busy during the ultrasound
- Still measuring for a due date of Oct 13
- When we ask Ashlynn where the baby is, she points to my belly. Even more specifically, my belly button. We know she probably won't get the concept of being a big sister until the baby gets here, but we'll continue to talk about it as the day approaches.
- Don't plan on finding out the sex of the baby - we loved the surprise last time and plan to enjoy that again!

It seems like October is so far away, but I know this summer will go fast between the 7 weddings we have and a couple other weekend trips/happenings. Isn't that how summer always seems to go?! I was also reminded by a good friend that summer is a good time to be pregnant because you can feel good about going ape at the State Fair. Not that I believe in the "eating for two" theory, but I might have to make an exception for corn dogs, cheese curds, Martha's cookies and mac-n-cheese on a stick. Baby Bacon...oh how fitting.

Here's the little one! (head on the left, then belly, then feet...we really didn't get a very "baby" looking picture with all the movement)

Oh Belly

I'm realizing first-hand that what they say is true - you start showing sooner with your second (third, etc.) baby than you did with your first. I even remember the weekend before I took a pregnancy test, I was thinking to myself that my body felt "off." I had a gut that suddenly appeared, and I hadn't even been on a beer bender. Probably easy for the belly to remember what it's capable of doing(stretching out to the size of a watermelon), so it makes sense I guess.

It's mostly difficult adjusting to a quickly slimming closet. I'm getting bigger during a different season this time, so I'll have to do some summer shopping. Anyone else cringe at spending money on maternity clothes? Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of cute things and it's amazing how much better you feel in them as you grow, but knowing that you only wear them a few short months is rough when I'd rather spend on post-baby clothes. I've done more of the purchasing of "regular" clothes, but just in bigger sizes or in fits that flatter a growing belly. Regardless, I can only stuff myself into some of my clothes for a little longer without feeling like lumpy sausage (if I could take a pic of the button/zipper region of the capris I wore to work today, you'd all send me to Motherhood Maternity in a heartbeat). It's probably time to invest in more dresses and maternity capris/shorts for summer...my body hurts at the thought of trying to fit in my shorts from last summer.

Now that I sound like a total girl with clothes issues, I'm going to complete this post with a few self shots of my belly. Lovely. Haven't been real regular or methodical like I was last go-round about the weekly shot (crappy lighting, random backgrounds, eh), but starting to pay more attention. I'm realizing it's fun to look back at my belly book from when I was prego with Ashlynn and check out how I was feeling/growing/changing/etc. Around this time last time, I started feeling kicks. Haven't felt one yet, but know it's around the corner!

16

Last Thursday marked a day of 16's. It was my last day at 16 weeks and it was Ashlynn's first day at 16 months. Ashlynn just keeps growing...and so does my belly!
