So let's rewind a bit. Back to October 15 to be exact. Alese turned 1 and I feel like ever since then she's been developing such a distinct personality. She's uber busy, playful, curious, brave and a little lovebug. Turning 1 also meant Alese was fiiiinally sleeping through the night. What a long road, and so not like Ashlynn's sleep pattern as a baby.

And the hair. I think I'm just in awe over how different it is from Ashlynn's hair. Alese's is curly, spunky and just straight-up wild at times. Ashlynn's is stick straight, very fine and has a hard time growing because of the fine texture. Two totally different girls!

Is surprisingly okay with keeping hair accessories in place

Greasy, spaghetti-filled hair
As she's maturing at her old age of 1, Alese is babbling a lot more and starting to say a few words and make connections between words and objects. "Dada" is the fave, "Mama" is somewhere behind "up" and "hot." Figures. She's starting to say "Ash" for Ashlynn when she sees her, "pupp" for puppy, "woof" for what a dog says and a few other words/sounds here and there. Knows where her nose and belly button are. Waves hello and good-bye, blows kisses and blows on her food if we say it's hot. Signs for "please", "thank you" and "more" (thanks to daycare). And the latest? "No." Hmmm great. But anything she says makes Jer, Ashlynn and me just smile ear-to-ear when we hear her talk, whether that's babbling, learning a new word or just making excited squeals. Sometimes she'll have a 2-minute conversation with us of all jibberish, but it is the most adorable thing. Here's just a little snapshot...
We've started to discipline a bit since she's testing boundaries i.e. throwing food out of her high chair, or touching the TV and turning around with a huge shit grin. Disciplining goes one of two ways - either she smirks and keeps doing it slowly while keeping her eyes locked on us with that "sweet" smile, or she gives the world's saddest puppy face and pouts until it looks like she's going to well up with sadness. She knows the game and she plays it well. Alese - 1..."Operation Discipline a 1-Year-Old" - 0.
But for the most part she's a happy camper who's goofing off a good chunk of the time.
Showing off her 4 teeth, which is soon to be 8 with the new ones just popping in
Second-child moment at its finest...reusing Ashlynn's ducky costume for Halloween. Quack.
And probably my most proud Mom moment as of late...Alese's ability to break it down. You say "dance", she says "pssshh, give me a real challenge, Mom."
Here's to more adventure in the year ahead, Miss Alese!
I thought it was a pic of Ash$ too with Nancy. So funny because sometimes the girls look alike and other times so different. But they're both so beautiful. Lots of love!!!
Oh those curls! And she's seriously starting to look like her big sister in some of those photos! I miss you and your little family. Love those girlies!

Love Alese's curling hair! Fun to read your post. :)
The pic of your mom holding Alese, pretty sure you screwed up and found an oldie of Ashlynn. Just saying. :) Glad someone still blogs, ha!
