4th of July

We've been enjoying the long holiday weekend at home this year. Last year we went camping with some friends, but with the hog schedule (barn cleaning Saturday, two new loads coming today), we couldn't go too far from home.

Thursday evening we went to the Twins game with Jeremy's brother and sister-in-law Chad and Tenia. The boys helped their great aunt and uncle cut up trees and clean up their yard last weekend from the storm damage in Lake Crystal. So he gave the guys his set of 4 season tickets to Thursday's game - very generous! The seats were in the Legends Club, so it was fun to sit in a different spot than last time and experience another part of the stadium. A great, close game, but the Twins couldn't pull out a win!

Friday evening we stayed in and caught up on sleep. Saturday Jeremy worked and I did some cleaning around the house, and Saturday night we hung out with some friends. Yesterday Jeremy and I went up to St. Paul to Taste of MN. I had never been there before, but was always interested in checking it out. It was pretty spendy - $20 each to get in and all the food was a little over priced. I was thinking it was more like Taste of TCO, an event we used to run at the PR firm I worked at, where you pay a flat cost and get food samplings from all the different restaurants. Well, this wasn't the case - only a couple had tastings and most every restaurant charged tickets, so Jeremy's gyro was $10, a bottled water was $4, etc. I suppose somewhat similar to the state fair, but on a smaller scale. We went mid-afternoon, so once we made the rounds, ate and hung out along the river, we were ready to leave around 6pm. Wish we could've killed time until 8pm because Augustana, Need to Breathe and Counting Crows were all performing in the park with open seating, no extra cost once you're in. Plus, the fireworks by the river are amazing. But we were sweating beyond belief, tired of greasy food and just ready to call it a day. Still a fun time and worth checking out.

Saw Toy Story 3 last night on the way home and watched a few fireworks from our deck. A little difficult to see from Mankato, but got to see the high ones. All in all, it's been a great, relaxing 4th of July weekend! Today my mom is visiting and has offered to help with some house projects I've had on my list. So hoping for a productive day!
